FullSizeRenderMy name is Sherry Hiler and I am a previous resident of St Joseph, MI who now resides in Lake Orion, MI. I work full time for Letica Corporation in Rochester. I have been a part of the St Joseph Public Art program for the past four years. I love Southwest Michigan and am excited to be a part of this year's theme.

I am the mother of two grown children who are probably sick of receiving pictures of my latest projects! That said, they still support me and encourage me in everything I do!

Over the years, I have enjoyed several hobbies, however my passion is crafting and creating art. I love creating something from nothing. I was excited about this year’s theme “Beach Bugs” and was drawn to the snail immediately. I thought the snail shell resembled a fire hose and from that Hydro was created. Hydro lights up and when the button on his collar is pushed makes both fire truck siren and engine sounds using a toy truck in his body. Hydro's collar was created from a re-purposed tape container. Thanks to Jim for helping me with wiring the lights and siren!

I would like to thank the St Joseph Fire Department for donating the hat and boots, they add great local character to Hydro. Also, I would like to thank my sister in-law Jeanne and nephews Adam and Kevin for delivering him to Lake Orion. I also have to give a shout out to my husband Todd who had to run up and down the stairs about 100 times to hold this, or give his opinion on that ... oh, and for cleaning up my constant messes! You always are my biggest fan! Thanks! Additionally, thanks to Susan and the entire staff at the city for including me again this year, I am always proud to be a part of the community and the project. Finally, I would like to thank Fifth Third Bank for sponsoring my project. Randy thanks for ensuring I was awarded the snail! I loved creating "Hydro" and I hope the residents of St Joseph enjoy him.
